Yoga literally saved Cedar's life. Cedar spent years partying a little to hard as a teen in the underground Chicago rave community where he was a successful DJ till the age of 21. He explored drinking and drug use to where he hit a deep bottom. During a great time of need, yoga quickly came to the rescue for Cedar and has positively changed his life in all ways. Cedar has been a dedicated student to the practice since 2006 and teaching full-time since 2010.
Cedar had been studying different forms of meditation and metaphysics since he was a young boy. In 2010 he completed his first 200 hour teaching training at Yogaview in Chicago with Tom Quinn, Claire Mark, Geri Bleier, and Quinn Kearney. In 2013 Mahkah completed his 300 hour advanced teacher training in Los Angeles with Noah Mazé.
He has explored many different schools of hatha yoga practices including Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Anusara Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Nada Yoga, Tantric Tibetan Buddhism, and different forms of Tantric Yoga. His personal asana practice is Iyengar and Ashtanga based and his asana teaching is a hybrid of both systems. Cedar's primary teachers is Richard Freeman.
Cedar has personally studied with master teachers Matty Ezraty, Bhagavan Das, Douglas Brooks, Noah Mazé, Sara Strother, Tim Miller, Chuck Miller, Gabriel Helpern, Julie Lawrence, David Swenson, Tim Feldmann, Christina Sell, and Amie Ippoliti.
